Jewelry Appraisals

An appraisal is a written report that clearly describes an item of personal property, tangible or intangible, while analyzing and stating the purpose and intended use, defined as "function" sought by the client. The appraisal should be prepared by a disinterested (unbiased) person who is qualified through completion of appraisal education, testing and specific knowledge of the item(s) being appraised.

Appraisals may be done for Insurance Replacement Value, Estate Valuation, and Fair Market Value. Insurance appraisals should be updated every three to five years.

The appraisal should state the size and estimated weight of all gemstones and diamonds along with the color, clarity and cut grade. It should state the karat of the gold, finess of silver and pureness of platinum, along with the total weight of the item in grams or DWT.

Our appraisal service is done by a truly independent Graduate Gemologist who also has training as an appraiser. Most appraisals are priced on a per piece basis, but may be priced on an hourly rate, due to complexity or extensive research. Call for our fee structure.
